the cam remple highlands...

just got back from a half day "adventure" tour...
to be quite honest, it wasn't all that adventurous, but it was really enjoyable.
we started off the day at 8:45 am.
got picked up from our hostel and then picked up a van-full of fellow adventure-seekers.
our first stop was the butterfly/tropical flower/cactus farm.
i don't know what makes a bunch of potted cacti a farm exactly...
you had to watch where you stepped in the butterfly room, cuz there were butterflies all over the map!
after the "farm adventure" we headed off for the "organic strawberry farm adventure"...
we were the only ones in our group not at all interested in seeing how strawberries are made... (we did grow up in manitoba after all... and were forced by our mothers/grandmothers/aunties to pick ice-cream pail after ice-cream pail of the little devils on hot saturday mornings when we would rather be inside watching cartoons!!)
so we ducked out and headed over to the cafe and had ourselves some fresh strawberries and ice-cream and cake with strawberries...cheap and delicious. true menno style.
after the strawberry-fest we split up from the group and it was just derek, myself and the real debby downer from england who had something negative to say about every little thing.
the three of us headed off to Gunung Brinchang which is the tallest point in the Cameron Highlands at a whopping 6666 feet.
unfortunately it was pretty cloudy out and we couldn't see all that much...
then we went on a mini hike through a mossy forest which was very wet...we had a good guide who made us smell every second leaf...
ginger...cinnamon tree bark...and one that smelt like minty rub-a5-35.
after our mini trek we got back in our 4x4 and headed back down to the "Boh Tea Estate" which is the largest in South East Asia...
the one we went to was 600 acres of tea plantations...it was beautiful!
we toured the tea factory and then went and sat out over all those lovely acres and drank tea of course!
our last stop was a local produce market...
we got to sample fruits we'd never seen before...a cameron apple that tasted like cucumber (gross) and some weird green thing that i don't remember what it was...it tasted better, still nothing to write home about...(as i write home about it...)
I bought some fresh strawberries and some carrots and then we headed on back to our hostel and here we are!
man this post is really lame. i'm gonna end it now. thanks for reading it anyway. MWAH.
